About this tool

This pace calculator turns a distance and a finish time into your pace per kilometre and per mile and your speed in km/h and mph, then projects race times for the 5K, 10K, half marathon and marathon at that pace.

How to use it

  1. Enter the distance and choose km or miles, or tap a race preset (5K, 10K, half, marathon).
  2. Enter your time in hours, minutes and seconds.
  3. Read your pace per km and per mile and your speed.
  4. Check the estimated race times at the same pace.

Good to know

  • Pace = time ÷ distance; speed = distance ÷ time.
  • Pace per mile is about 1.609 times pace per km — a 5:00/km pace equals about 8:03/mile.
  • The race projections keep the same pace for every distance; for a fatigue-adjusted prediction use a race time predictor.
  • The half marathon is 21.0975 km and the marathon 42.195 km.

Frequently asked questions

How do I calculate my running pace?

Divide your total time by the distance. For example, 50 minutes for 10 km is a pace of 5:00 per kilometre; the calculator does this instantly for any distance.

What is a good 5K pace for beginners?

Many beginners run 5K at roughly 6:30–8:00 per kilometre (about 10:30–13:00 per mile). Any pace you can hold comfortably is a good starting point.

How do I convert min/km to min/mile?

Multiply the pace per km by 1.609. A 6:00/km pace is about 9:39 per mile.

Can I use this for cycling or swimming?

Yes — it works for any distance and time, and speed in km/h or mph is often more useful than pace for cycling.
