About this tool

How to use it
- Enter the bill amount and choose your currency.
- Drag the slider to set the tip percentage.
- Enter the number of people sharing the bill.
- Read the tip, total and amount each person pays.
Good to know
- Tip = bill × tip % ÷ 100, and the total is bill + tip.
- Example: a 50 bill with an 18% tip is a 9 tip and a 59 total, or 29.50 each for two people.
- The per-person share divides the total, tip included, evenly between everyone.
- The tip slider runs from 0% to 30% in 1% steps.

Frequently asked questions
How much should I tip?
Customs vary widely by country. In the US 15–20% is typical in restaurants, while in many European and Asian countries a small rounding-up or no tip is normal.
Should I tip on the amount before or after tax?
Many people tip on the pre-tax amount. Enter whichever figure you prefer as the bill — the calculator applies the percentage to that number.
How do I split a bill with a tip?
Enter the bill, choose the tip percentage and set the number of people. The per-person amount already includes each person's share of the tip.
Does it round the amounts?
Results are shown to two decimal places. Round the per-person share up if you want to avoid coins.
