About this tool
This cron builder creates standard 5-field cron expressions from dropdowns or presets, explains the schedule in plain English and lists the next five times it will run.
How to use it
- Pick a quick preset, or set minute, hour, day of month, month and day of week.
- Choose Custom… to type values such as */5, 1-5 or 1,15.
- Read the human-readable description and the next 5 run times.
- Copy the expression into your crontab or scheduler.
Good to know
- Standard cron has five fields: minute (0–59), hour (0–23), day of month (1–31), month (1–12) and day of week (0–6, Sunday = 0).
- */15 means every 15 units, 1-5 is a range, and 1,15 is a list.
- 0 9 * * 1-5 runs at 09:00 every weekday.
- Next run times are calculated in your browser's local time zone; servers usually run cron in their own time zone.
Runs entirely in your browser — nothing you enter is uploaded or stored.
Frequently asked questions
What does * * * * * mean?
It means every minute of every hour, every day.
How do I run a job every 5 minutes?
Use */5 * * * *.
Does this support seconds or year fields?
No. It builds the classic 5-field format used by Unix crontab, most Linux systems and many schedulers. Quartz-style 6- or 7-field cron is not supported.
Why do run times differ from my server?
The preview uses your local time zone. Check which time zone your server or scheduler uses, often UTC.
