Good to know
- Supported syntax includes # headings, **bold**, *italic*, `inline code`, fenced ``` code blocks, lists, > blockquotes, --- rules, links and images.
- All HTML in the input is escaped before rendering, which prevents cross-site scripting (XSS).
- Links and images only allow http, https and mailto URLs; javascript: URLs are blocked.
- Markdown was created by John Gruber in 2004 as a readable plain-text format that converts to HTML.
Runs entirely in your browser — nothing you enter is uploaded or stored.
Frequently asked questions
Does this support GitHub Flavored Markdown?
It supports the common core — headings, emphasis, lists, code blocks, quotes, links and images. GFM extras such as tables and task lists are not rendered.
Can I paste raw HTML into the editor?
HTML is escaped and shown as text rather than rendered, which keeps the preview safe from script injection.
Is my document stored anywhere?
No. Rendering happens entirely in your browser, so notes and documentation stay on your device.
How do I make a code block?
Put three backticks (```) on the line before and after the code.
